| Mercedes SLK-Class |
|
| When it was introduced in 1997,
the Mercedes-Benz SLK-Class sports roadster
was one of the first of the modern breed of
convertibles with a retractable hard-top.
SLK stands for Sportlich, Leicht and Kurz
(or Sports, Light and Short in English) and
the model provides an alternative to Mercedes-Benz'
existing SL range. Engines sizes available
include the supercharged 1.8L (200 Kompressor),
3 and 3.5L V6s and the 5.5L V8 in the SLK
55 AMG. Vehicles come with a range of gearboxes
including 6-speed manual, 5-speed automatic
and 7G-Tronic 7-speed automatic depending
